Andrew
Bizzell |
Andrew Bizzell is one of the founders of BEESA. He is also the founder of the Institute of Enterprise Development, a non-profit solution to provide financial and non-financial support to qualifying enterprise development beneficiaries. Andrew has 13 years experience working in South Africa, United Kingdom, France and Switzerland. Prior to BEESA he was Resources Manager for Standard Bank, KZN. Andrew has had extensive exposure to a large number of businesses and industries around the world. He has worked closely with the Department of Trade and Industry to identify the best ways to communicate the effect of implementation of BEE in South Africa. Andrew has a BSc in Business Studies from Oxford Brookes University. |

Renée
Burton |
Renée Burton is Sustainability Manager for Unilever South Africa with an extra focus on delivering the BEE score for the group. Renée is fortunate enough in the sense that her job profile is strongly aligned with her personal interest of being a social crusader of sorts. At Unilever all are afforded the opportunity to move above and beyond in an effort to operate as a responsible corporate citizen. These sentiments are further echoed in Unilever’s mission statement:
“We help people feel good, look good and get more out of life with brands and services that are good for them and good for others. We will inspire people to take small everyday actions that can add up to a big difference for the world. Murray
Chabant
is a Chartered Accountant and has extensive experience in successfully developing and managing businesses.
In 1998 Murray joined Grafton Everest as financial manager and later financial director.
In 2005 Murray left the corporate world to start BEESA, a BEE consulting business where responsibilities included implementation of the company’s accounting and financial controls, finance for BEE partnership deals and risk assessments. In 2006 Murray started performing BEE verifications and successfully grew this into a separate business, BEESCORE, that became one of South Africa’s first accredited rating agencies.
He has performed the verification of numerous businesses ranging from construction, transport, manufacturing, farming and services. In 2011 he sold the verification business to pursue his interests in business sustainability and strategic consulting where he acquired an interest in the long established BEE consultancy BEExchange. |

Goodnews
Cadogan |
Goodnews Cadogan is a Director of The Village Leadership Consulting. He qualified as an Engineering Electrician at Volkswagen South
Africa. He moved to Goodyear SA and assumed a role of Production Area Manager. His ability to coach and mentor others was seen in the marked improvement of the
scorecard for the manufacturing plant.
In 1999 he joined the South African Revenue Services as Manager: Personnel, with
achievements in the areas of change management and policy development.
As the regional manager for Gauteng Central enforcement, he
focused on changing the way people, systems and processes interacted to create a high
performance region.
His deep understanding of the public sector as well as the interaction between the
executive management teams and the politicians, make him the ideal person to help
teams with both intra-team and inter-teams relationships and
performance pressures. In March 2008, Goodnews became a director and equal shareholder of The Village
Leadership Consulting, a boutique leadership consulting company, specialising in
organisational development, leadership development and change management. |

Gqubule |
Duma Gqubule is the Executive Director of KIO Advisory Services. He been involved
in major national initiatives such as
co-authoring the BEE Commission
Report and the Maritime and
Forwarding and Clearing BEE
Charters. For the last several years
he has provided consulting and
policy advice to, among others, the NEPAD Secretariat
and Steering Committee, the Deptartment Of Transport
and Coca Cola South Africa. At NALEDI he co-authored
a report on Trade Union investment companies for
COSATU. He has an MA degree with honours in Economics
from Aberdeen University. As a financial journalist Duma
has contributed to many leading national as well as
international publications including Fortune Magazine.
He is a past winner of the Sanlam Financial Journalist of
the Year Award and is a commentator and
analyst of transformation and development matters.
He is the editor, as well as a contributor, to the book "Making Mistakes Righting Wrongs: Insights into Black Economic Empowerment". |

Chris Hart joined Investment Solutions as head of market and economic research in 2007 and has since been appointed chief strategist within the investment team. He was previously a senior financial market economist with Absa Capital. Hart’s main research focus is analysing financial markets domestically and abroad with the aim of advising the investment team on enhancing portfolio returns and identifying portfolio risk. As chief strategist, He is also responsible for client liaison and engagement with the broader Alexander Forbes group. He has presented papers at numerous conferences in SA and abroad and is also a company spokesman on economic issues and financial markets. |

Sandile Hlophe is the Managing Partner for the Restructuring Advisory business unit within the Advisory function of KPMG South Africa. He is a qualified Chartered Accountant (SA), with more than 12 years professional experience spread over the disciplines of auditing, management consulting, retail and corporate banking, socio economic development, development funding, digital data casting and television broadcasting. He is the Lead Partner for the annual KPMG BEE Survey into BEE transformation within businesses in South Africa and was responsible for conceptualising and delivering the first survey, which was recognised by the Department of Trade and Industry as a positive contribution towards promoting BEE in South Africa. |

Dionne Kerr is Founder and Director of Siyakha Consulting. She has worked for as a management consultant focusing on providing solutions to the private and public sectors in performance, productivity and people management since 1999. She is the Chairperson of the National Association of BEE Consultants (NABC). Dionne has engaged with a number of trade missions from all over the world on issues around investment in South Africa. An avid believer in community development, Dionne remains actively involved in entrepreneurial development, community development, job creation, disability support programmes and youth development. She is a past recipient of the DIVA Africa award for her involvement in SMME development. Her prestigious CV has also ensured Dionne’s recent selection as a judge for the Black Business Quarterly (BBQ) Awards, the Top Women Awards 2010, the Achiever Awards 2010 and the Metropolitan Olivier Empowerment Awards for three years consecutively. |

Leon Lourens is the Managing Director, Business Systems 2000.
He is experienced in business incubation. He worked for five years with Softstart Business & Technology Incubator, South Africa and as chairman for SABTIA, the South African Business Incubation Association. He also is involved with the infoDev Africa Incubator Network (AIN). His goal is to rally the Southern African Incubator fraternity at the AGM to formalize the Association into a non-profit organization and create a full time secretariat to develop incubation in Africa. His passion has always been in the broader strategic SME development arena rather than limiting his input to one incubator. In addition, the Government's Black Economic Empowerment programmes designed to uplift and empower the previously disadvantaged groups in South Africa create some interesting opportunities in the South African Enterprise Development arena which he will be pursuing. |

Maphai |
Dr Vincent Maphai is Executive Director: Corporate Affairs and Transformation at the South African Breweries, and a National Planning Commission Member.
Vincent first joined the South African Breweries Limited in 1998 when he was appointed Corporate Affairs Director. He held this position until 2004, when he assumed responsibility as Executive Chairman of BHP Billiton Southern Africa. The son of marginally educated shebeen owners, Vincent grew up to become a highly regarded academic who held fellowships at Harvard, Princeton and Stanford. From 1991 to 1994 he was associate professor and head of the political science department at the University of the Western Cape. In 1996 he joined the Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC) as Executive Director of social dynamics. The HSRC seconded him to head up the Presidential Review Commission, a body set up to investigate government restructuring and service delivery. From 1996 to 1998 he was professor extraordinaire in the Department of Political Science at UNISA. In 2009 he was re-appointed to SAB. |

Thabo
Masombuka |
Thabo Masombuka qualified with an LLB degree through the University of the Western Cape and worked in Law and then in Government before moving into consulting. Thabo has recently joined Siyakha Consulting to provide access to his in-depth knowledge and understanding of the BEE policy, and his legal and Transaction advisory expertise which provides advice and advisory support to customers. Most recently, Thabo held the position of Director for BBBEE Sector Charters and Partnerships for the Department of Trade and Industry and, in this capacity advised the Minister, was responsible for advocacy and trade promotion as well as advisory and compliance on the various legislative policies within South Africa. Prior to working in Transformation, Thabo worked as a Legal Advisor and in corporate governance and compliance for several Financial Institutions. |

Kganki Matabane is currently Executive Director - Transformation Policy at Business Unity South Africa (Busa), responsible for monitoring transformation in South Africa as well as Internal Operations. He was previously the Financial Director at the Black Management Forum (BMF).
His academic qualifications include a National Diploma in Cost and Management Accounting from Wits Technikon, a B-Tech in Cost and Management Accounting from Technikon SA (now UNISA), a Certificate in Financial Analysis from the Wits Business School, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration from the Gordon Institute of Business Science (Gibs). He has attended a programme on Strengthening Employers’ Organisations from Nippon-Keindanren International Cooperation Center (Japan).
Kganki is a Practising Member of the South African Institute of Professional Accountants. He is also a founder and director of Broad Based BEE Haven Investments. |

Leila Moonda has a B.Comm Financial Management from Unisa, a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management from UCT and is an MCSD (Microsoft Certified Solution Developer). She has worked extensively within the South African Corporate environment in such diverse fields as quality management, business process re-engineering and programming. Leila is one of the founders of the BEE Institute and is a current executive member of the National Association of BEE Consultants. Prior to joining the BEE Institute, she was a Senior Consultant at BEESA Consulting. Leila has assisted companies with their BEE scorecards, strategies and implementation. Before that Leila was the Transformation Manager at SAIA, responsible for the BEE strategy and implementation for industry BEE initiatives. Leila also served on the Business Unity South Africa's Transformation Policy Committee as a representative for SAIA. |

Tometsi Azariel Mosai is currently employed as a Preferential Procurement Manager for ArcelorMittal South Africa (a subsidiary of the biggest steel producer in the world). He holds a B.com Honours Degree (Development Economics) from the then Rand Afrikaans University and has recently completed MAP from Wits Business School. His previous work experience includes working as a Regional Export Manager responsible for managing steel sales in the Indian Ocean Markets.
Azariel's appetite to be a role player within the transformation (BEE) space was influenced by his participation in Black Management Forum activities in 1995. His
achievements also include making contributions towards the final development of the DTI's Codes of Good Practice and setting the foundation for BEE implementation within ArcelorMittal South Africa. |

Munnik is regarded as one of the leading experts in EE Transformation in South Africa. He is the Managing Director of EES-SIYAKHA and facilitated the development of The EES Process and Manual, which set an industry standard for the successful implementation of EE Transformation. EES-SIYAKHA has subsequently developed the most comprehensive EE Transformation process in the market, which not only ensures Top Management leadership, but also the implementation of “best HR Practices”, and effective change management. Her passion revolves around full immersion in social transformation initiatives through “challenging the single story”.

Israel Noko joined BEESA Group as Executive Director in September 2009 as part of a strategic move to position Sustainable BEE as a best practice to companies, multinationals and NGOs in South Africa. Israel’s experience has focused on developing and executing strategies that would enable companies to position themselves better in the market, and develop partnerships with companies and organizations that want to address enterprise development and preferential procurement. Israel has worked at the United Nations, the Canadian High Commission Trade Office in South Africa, Enablis and in the financial services industry. He studied Law and Social Sciences at the University of Warwick, UK and completed a LLB at Coventry University, UK. In his other capacity, Israel is a Fellow member of the Institute of Directors of South Africa and sits on the Executive Committee of the South Africa-Canada Chamber of Business (SACCB), which aims to promote and develop business links between South Africa and Canada. |

Sakkie O' Neil is the Divisional Executive: Black Business Development, at Nedbank and has an MSc in Information Systems from Leeds Metropolitan University in the UK. Although his career started in IT, his first encounter with Transformation happened during the 80s at Edgars as part of the Sullivan Code compliance. He entered the banking world in the late eighties as part of Allied Bank which amalgamated into the ABSA Group, where he filled positions in IT, IT strategy and Strategic planning. He joined the Nedbank Group Finance Division in 1998 in a transformation and planning position and took over the implementation of the Financial Sector Charter in the Group during 2004. |

Dr Lia Vangelatos has been employed at Anglo American since 1979 and has filled various corporate finance, financial, management accounting, treasury and business development positions. She is presently the Chief Investment Manager at Zimele, the highly successful Enterprise Development and Empowerment Initiative of Anglo American. The Zimele enterprise development model has been recognised internationally by the IFC and World Bank, and is used globally as a best practice model. Lia has worked in the enterprise development area for over 10 years and has a deep understanding of the small business environment and developmental finance. She has developed policies and strategic direction for SMEs, with particular focus on small business procurement, supplier development, sustainable entrepreneurship, junior mining and rural entrepreneurship. Lia holds a BCompt degree, an MBL and a Doctorate in Business Leadership. In 1989 UNISA’s Graduate School of Business Leadership awarded Lia the Board’s Gold Medal for best MBL student. |

Bernie van Niekerk is the CEO of Commerce Edge. He has advised and trained many leading organisations in a variety of industries on World Class Procurement Strategy, Supply Chain Strategy, e-Procurement, Strategic Sourcing, Supplier Management and other leading concepts within the supply chain. At Ernst & Young Management Consulting, Bernie successfully created and managed the company’s World-Class procurement consulting area. He was responsible for creating the South African methodology in this practice area and oversaw many successful implementations. He is a regular speaker at industry conferences. Bernie also served as the COO of an international e-Procurement service provider’s African Operations and oversaw the creation of seven e-Procurement service providers throughout the African Continent. |

van Wyk is the CEO of AQRate (Pty) Ltd and the Chairman of ABVA. He completed his B.Comm (Law) and LLB degrees at the University of Stellenbosch in 1999. Hereafter he joined the firm Van der Spuy and Partners, completed his articles and then joined the firm on a permanent basis. During his articles he completed his LLM degree in International Trade Law at the University of Stellenbosch (Cum Laude). He joined the Exceed Auditing Group in 2005 as head of their BEE consulting division. He is currently the CEO of AQRATE verification agency. He has also been elected to the Board of ABVA and currently serves as chairman and technical director of ABVA tasked with interpretational issues of the legislation. He is also the co-author of the Lexis Nexus Empowermentor publication. |
